Nintendo: Future Wiimotes could have MotionPlus built in

It seems obvious, but Nintendo is still debating whether or not future iterations of the Wii controller will have MotionPlus technology built in.

LOS ANGELES -- Should the recently unveiled Wii MotionPlus 1:1 motion control tech be integrated into future Wiimotes from the get-go?

That's the question being tackled by Nintendo executives at E3 this week, and so far the official answer remains an enigmatic, but typical (for Nintendo), maybe.

"As to looking at whether or not it will be an attachment or built in - we're always looking at how hardware should evolve and where we should take it," said Nintendo's Katsuya Eguchi. "It might be good to keep it as an attachment we only use for certain software".

The comments came during a Nintendo developer's round table, and early on Eguchi was answering questions about the new Wii accessory.

For example, Eguchi teased that in the future, MotionPlus sports games could be more complex, with natural slice or topspin in a tennis game. "But we have to ask ourselves, is that easy to play? Is that something we want to do just because it's realistic?" he said.

So far, Wii Sports Resort, due out next spring, is the only game to feature MotionPlus technology.

I said this in the last one, that a brand new and improved Wii remote would come out so we can all spend more money and buy new ones

Good to hear that they're considering it at least. They should have the option to either purchase seperately or buy a remote with one built in. If it's somehow ok for Sony to release a Dual Shock 3 with rumble then why not a new remote with built in 1:1 response?

I will respect them either way for one reason. . The Wii has one sku. Sony and MS have like 12 between the two of them. This isn't a ploy to make money from Nintendo, it a way to improve upon the product.

Sire, I don't quite see your logic. One could see MS and Sony as improving their product by adding HDMI and/or larger HD's. And when has "making money" been bad for a business?

Well, I think this attachment should be free to those who own WiiMotes. Nintendo has enough money to pass these out without a problem. And as far as MS and Sony.... MS can improve on their product by actually FIXING RROD and Sony could use a few more AAA titles sooner rather than later.

Also, I can see in the Wii's future games that will REQUIRE this attachment.

I don't feel I should have to pay for something that should be a part of my experience from the start. I'm paying good money for the system, why can't you make it a part of the bundle?

If they incorporate the MotionPlus to the Tiger Woods games...think of the possibilities!! It would accurate detect a slice or a fade, it would accurately detect the swing of the club, in essence it will force you to perfect the swing and play well. This may very well be the hidden jewel to improve my golf game!!! (Hope EA is taking note)
