LOS ANGELES -- Cult puzzle hit Portal will live on as a downloadable game for the Xbox 360, Microsoft officials confirmed in their E3 2008 press briefing today.

Portal: Still Alive is expected to hit the Xbox 360 in 2008. It's not yet known whether the game will be a full-blown sequel, a collection of new puzzles, or something else entirely. But during the conference, the disembodied voice of GLaDDOS, the sardonic villain who taunts players throughout the first game, remarked that the puzzles in Still Alive were more advanced than those in the first game.

Portal was a surprise cult hit. Included as part of Valve's The Orange Box collection, players use a portable Portal generator to solve a series of increasingly difficult (and mind-bending) spatial puzzles. The game is played from a first-person perspective, but was a mass-market hit partly due to its simple interface, charming writing, and clever puzzles.

We'll have further updates on Portal: Still Alive as it approaches its release date later in 2008.

Nice, son has the orange box, but I never got it, so this will be nice for me to get the game on my own 360
