Fixed: PlayStation 3 firmware 2.41 now available

Sony released the eagerly anticipated firmware 2.41 today. Trophies and in-game XMB and no bricking, oh my!

I work!

I work!

After nearly two weeks of uncertainty regarding the PS3 firmware update 2.40, Sony has finally addressed the issue with firmware 2.41.

The update provides the trophy support and in-game XMB that was promised with 2.40, and a little something extra: it wont brick your system.

To recap the series of events, Sony released 2.40 last week, and was quickly greeted with claims from console owners that the update bricked their systems. Sony responded by pulling 2.40 without any kind of announcement, and then promised 2.41 by "midweek" this week. It arrived a day early.

The latest update appears to be functioning normally.
