Bungie Day means free Halo 3 map and other goodies on July 7

Bungie is celebrating Bungie Day with a new map and assorted other "goodies."
New map? Goooooddiiiee!!!!
On July 7, otherwise known as Bungie Day, Halo fans will be on the receiving end of a new Halo 3 map, gamer pics and a Bungie Day Xbox 360 dashboard theme, all for free on Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
The new map, called Cold Storage, is a multiplayer affair inspired by the original map Chill Out found in "Halo: Combat Evolved."
"The Cold Storage facility was once a vibrant, active research center on Installation 05. An accidental contamination resulted in an unforeseen outbreak, which compromised the Forerunner center. Now, emptied and silent, watched only by a local caretaker, the abandoned structure serves as a reminder of how something as powerful as science is ultimately beholden to nature," read a Bungie press release.
In addition to the new map, players will be able to download seven gamerpics and a Bungie Day dashboard theme from Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
Fans will need to be sure they download these on 7/7, because they will be available for one day only, Bungie said.

I just bought the Legendary Edition of Halo for $40 at Best Buy. Hopefully that 360 price drop will happen soon.

That's cool, but I've got a stupid question or three. Is the map going to be available after July 7th? If it is, why not make it free for everybody? They've still got the Legendary maps up for $10, and a bone thrown to the Halo faithful is never a bad thing.
