Sony: 'Every game' will have PS3 Trophies at some point

Despite supporting only 10 games currently, Sony promises that "every" PS3 game will have Trophy accomplishments.

"Ultimately, we'll have trophies for every game," said PSN director Eric Lempel, in an interview with GameSpy on Monday. "But we didn't want to force it on [developers] immediately," he added, implying that Sony will be lenient with third-party developers when implementing Trophies.

Unlike Xbox 360's universal achievement system, Trophies launched 19 months after the release of PS3 and currently track the accomplishments of only 10 games.

Lempel's remarks, however, seem to suggest that every PS3 developer will be required to patch older games to support Trophies. It is unclear if or when that will happen, though.

a hope a patch then, at least that prevents everyone from having to start over with the previous work they obtained.

A patch would be nice...... I may have to dig out my old PS3 games and see what happens

From what Ive read on some message boards the new update is a disaster, making PS3s freeze up and causing lots of other problems. Im gonna wait a few days and see what happens, I suggest everyone else do the same.

Yep I have read the same... most folks say that they are fine, other people are reporting issues. I am gonna download this pronto. Maybe it'll break my PS3 and I can get a new one. Just kidding lol.

Anyway, at least this will add some replay value to some older games that are collecting dust.

I like the Trophy idea....I just think it would have been better if it had been around WHEN the PS3 came out....not 2 (almost) years later.

Is Resistance FOM have trophies yet. Or will it get them if it doesnt. The update so far is working like a charm on my PS3. No problems on mine (Yet) lol

About 1 million folks are trying to hit that server to download MBs of files. That is a LOT for the server farm to try to handle. i will wait until the traffic dies down. I will try at an odd hour 2am tomorrow or tonight. Don't wait until the 4th or this weekend... traffic should be very heavy since people won't have shit else to do.
