UPDATE: Chrono Trigger confirmed for Nintendo DS

Square Enix on Wednesday announced a "newly revamped" Chrono Trigger for Nintendo DS, coming this holiday.

Update: Though game details are sparse, the announcement states that the "newly revamped edition maintains all of the game's original elements and spirit while introducing the portability, dual-screen presentation, and Touch-Screen functionality of Nintendo DS." Additionally, a "brand new dungeon" and a wireless play mode has been added.

Original Story: A Square Enix teaser website and a report from Japan-based Jump magazine suggest that a Chrono Trigger game is coming to Nintendo DS.

Though ambiguous, the countdown page not only features a Chrono series inspired clock, but it is published at "Square-Enix.com/CTDS," seemingly referring to the title "Chrono Trigger DS."

The launch of the site comes the same day as mag scans of the most recent issue of Jump Magazine of Japan surfaced on the internet, claiming that Chrono Trigger DS has been confirmed.

No other information has been made available at the moment, including when such a game might arrive, if it will be an enhanced remake of the original, or a true sequel to either Chrono Trigger (SNES, 1995) or Chrono Cross (PSX, 1999).

Despite the limited number of games in the series, Chrono is one of the most favored RPG series of all time, regularly named as one of the most requested sequels.

this is awesome! i never got to play it but my brother did and he said it was fantastic, one of the best rpg's he ever played and hes played all the FF's. now il finally be able to play it! touchscreen is the way to go!
