PC gaming may be struggling, but it's far from dead, according to Microsoft and the 16 Games For Windows they showed on Wednesday.
Call of Duty: World at War coming to PC
At a Games For Windows media briefing in San Francisco today, Microsoft announced several new PC games, demoing half of them to those in attendance.
Titles shown included Bionic Commando (Capcom), Call of Duty: World at War (Activision), Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization (2K Games), Devil May Cry 4 (Capcom), Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Sierra), Kung Fu Panda (Activision), Space Siege (Sega), and WALL-E (THQ).
Additionally, Microsoft unveiled the following lineup of games to be released in the coming months:
- Battlestations: Midway (Eidos)
- Battlestations: Pacific (Eidos)
- Borderlands (2K Games)
- Call of Duty: World at War (Activision)
- Crysis Warhead (Crytek/EA)
- Dawn of War 2 (THQ)
- Devil May Cry 4 (Capcom)
- Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Sierra)
- Quantum of Solace (Activision)
- LEGO Batman: The Videogame (Warner Bros.)
- Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa Video Game (Activision)
- Mafia II (2K Games)
- Project Origin Warner Bros.)
- Red Faction: Guerilla (THQ)
- Saints Row 2 (THQ)
- Zoo Tycoon 2: Ultimate Collection (Microsoft)
The list of games and initiative to highlight the PC comes at a time when slow retail sales and rampant piracy plague the platform, often discouraging publishers from releasing games and genres like Madden football on Windows.

every new generation is saying that PC gaming is dead. Piracy has always been an issue with PC gaming... I enjoy playing on PC because generally the players are older/mature (because of the high costs associated with PC gaming.) PC gaming will never die, because of the TRUE hardcore gamer.

Why the fascination about war based games? if you want to play soldier so bad, do the real thing and join the army. I think it should have its own genre.

My PC probably won't be able to run any of those games. I will stick to Consoles instead since good part of those games will come out for one of the three consoles anyway. I might upgrade my computer once Starcraft 2 is released though.

I don't think PC gaming will ever die. I prefer to play console games if it is the same game on the PC.

I think that's a misprint on Battlestations: Midway. It's been out for PC and 360 for a year and a half. Battlestations: Pacific is the sequel coming soon(sweet!).

I no longer play PC games because the cost is so high. Besides, I only have a laptop computer which limits performance (unless you want to shell out $4k or more) and is lightweight (performance laptops weigh well over the 10 pounds which doesn't sound too portable to me). It is cheaper to buy a PS3 or an Xbox 360 than spend so much money on a computer (which will become outdated in like 2 years). I'm just saying.
