New Spider-Man game to marry combat and swinging

Previous Spiderman games have unrealistically isolated fighting from web travel. But that's about to change with the upcoming Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, says Activision.

Over land or sea... FIGHT!

Over land or sea... FIGHT!

"One of the things we really wanted to improve on was previous Spider-Man games had really felt like the swinging and combat were two separate elements," said Tim O'Neal, lead programmer at Shaba Games. "One of our biggest focuses was to try and marry the two so you can actually fight while you're moving."

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows also promises the ability to take fighting from the ground, to the wall, to the air in mid-punch, much like the real Spidey (or at least the one depicted in recent movies).

The free-roaming action game is slated for release on October 21 for Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Nintendo DS, PSP, and PS2.

This game looks so awesome. Though a little late Gamepro, gametrailers.com beat you to the punch on this one last week.

This game will wash the bad taste of the SPider-Man movies out of my mind.
