UPDATE: Square Enix denies Final Fantasy Versus XIII delay

Square Enix confirmed Wednesday that the action arm of Final Fantasy XIII, Versus, has been delayed indefinitely.

UPDATE: Square Enix has squashed this rumor with a statement to Eurogamer:

"Reports that development for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is on hold are false," the publisher said in a statement to Eurogamer.

"The truth of the situation is that when free, some staff from the Versus team have been helping with the XIII team on development of Final Fantasy XIII. Development for both titles is continuing as originally scheduled."

The action-oriented arm of Final Fantasy XIII was delayed Wednesday, according to an interview in Japanese gaming mag Famitsu.

According to the interview, with Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura, game development is currently "on hold." The reason for the delay? To ensure that the often-delayed Final Fantasy XIII gets out the door on time, and doesn't experience any more delays.

To date, no playable footage of either title has been produced by Square Enix. The current release date for Final Fantasy XIII proper is sometime in the ether of 2009.

Delays?... When did SE give a set date for this game?... And not only that, the article says it's put on HOLD! lol Gamepro.com's editors are such idiots that it just makes me laugh lol.

Well what you just explained right there doesnt define the word DELAY... It perfectly defines the word HOLD tho. Also if there was never a release date there cant be a delay. Also by HOLDING the game it could mean that the game is 100% done by now but they're putting it on hold cuz they want to release another game first(this is just an example).

your point? Neither game is done, but the teams are combining to work on one at a time FFXIII taking Priority.
