Metal Gear Solid 4 makes fun of Xbox 360 and Wii

SPOILER: A cut scene in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4 for PS3 lightly ridicules the lack of storage space found on DVD-9, the optical disc technology used by both Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.

UPDATE: "Metal Gear Solid 4 is a masterpiece." Read the MGS4 review now!

The cinema, seen below, has Otacon telling Snake to "change the disc" mid-game and "swap disc 1 for disc 2," admitting that "it's a pain."

After Snake quips "no" when asked if he sees the second disc, Otacon openly recognizes that "we're on PlayStation 3 -- it's a Blu-ray disc." In case you've been living under a rock, Metal Gear Solid 4 is a PS3 exclusive.

The unexpected prank clearly pokes fun of last-gen disc storage, in which gamers are required to swap discs mid-game.

While PS3 Blu-ray discs support up to 50GB of storage space, DVD-9, used by both Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, maxes out at around 14GB.

Metal Gear Solid 4 lands on PS3 this Thursday.

You know the only good point about this is that Sony is the only brand of game counsel that uses a new format every generation. ;)
