World of Warcraft to introduce Xbox 360-style "Achievements"

Prepare for an addiction within your existing World of Warcraft addiction: Wrath of the Lich King will have Achievements.
Come on, I dare you to say I'm a copy cat
According to WoW news site DeathKnight.info, Blizzard is preparing to add Xbox 360-style Achievements to World of Warcraft, as part of the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack.
The story goes that Deathknight.info writer "Kenzi" logged into an alpha version of Wow:WotWC and entered "/achievement." He was then greeted with a new screen detailing the unannounced achievement system.
According to Wired (Ed. Note: DeathKinght link broken -- J.L.), achievement tasks range from "completing daily quests five days in a row, to winning matches in the game's PvP battlegrounds."
No word yet from Blizzard on the authenticity of the rumor, or whether or not the feature will live beyond the alpha build. Also unknown is whether or not completing tasks will grants players any rewards.
It worked for the Xbox 360, and it worked for Lord of the Rings Online, so I think it's a pretty safe bet to say combining WoW's already addictive qualities with the popularity of Achievements will ensnare players for many months to come. Say good bye to the outside, if you haven't already.

They took the good tihngs in EQ and made them better for WoW, while Sony took the worst parts of EQ and put them into EQ2.
