It's trilogy time: Take Two chairman Strauss Zelnick confirmed BioShock 3 would likely arrive just in time for the feature-length film.
Big Daddy like trilogies
Big Daddies and Little Sisters are just getting ready to star in the second installment of the wildly successful BioShock series, and already there's talk of at least one more game set within the walls of Rapture.
The confirmation came as Take-Two chairman Strauss Zelnick revealed that a third BioShock title will likely be released at an undetermined date in the far future. While the date was not specified, Zelnick said it was likely to coincide with the launch of the BioShock film.
"It's unlikely the picture would be released coincident with BioShock 2. It's more likely it would be released coincident with BioShock 3," he said.
No further BioShock 3 details were announced, including whether or not BioShock 2 or 3 would see simultaneous releases on Xbox 360 and PS3. A PS3 version of the BioShock was announced last week. It will be released this October.
Take-Two confirmed in March that BioShock 2 was in development at 2K Marin, and slated for release in Q4 of the publisher's fiscal year 2009. Again, no further details were revealed at this time.

Oh no! I knew this was going to happen! They are going to end up rushing the game to coincide with the movie, compromising integrity for money. Bioshock 2 will probably be crap as well. Bioshock 1 was not that good if you take away Ken Levine, the story, and grounbreaking mechanics. The first was not rushed and had a lengthy dev cycle. Now, they are going to be rushed and Ken won't be the director either. I hate modern corporate approaches to gaming.

But for the record Bioshock 1 was great. I was not criticizing it, just demonstrating what made it great and why time and a lengthy dev cycle were integral to the games greatness.

I wonder where they'll go with the story after the first game. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't played through it yet, but let's just say it doesn't leave a huge opening for a sequel.
