Nintendo says 100 WiiWare games in development

Senior project developer Tom Prata said 100 new WiiWare games are incoming, though Nintendo has no plans for demos or a long-term Wii storage solution.

"There are about 100 games in development for WiiWare at various stages of completion," Prata told IGN in an interview published on Friday. But gamers won't be able to demo said downloads before buying, much like Xbox 360 and PS3 owners often can.

"We do not intend to have a 'try-before-you-buy' model that requires developers to create demos," Prata said. "There are a variety of places to learn more about WiiWare games such as the Nintendo Channel where consumers can find game information for WiiWare together with retail Wii products, Virtual Console and DS games."

On the subject of Wii's limited 512MB internal storage space, Prata maintained: "Consumers have the option of either deleting the game and downloading it again for no additional Wii Points, or transferring the game from Wii to external SD memory card."

Previously, Nintendo has likened the file management and limited storage space of Wii to that of a refrigerator, suggesting gamers should "pull something out and put something back in" when software isn't being used.

Nintendo should release some sort of external hard drive themselves which can register to your Wii so that even if you bring it to someones house you can't play the virtual console games and Wiiware games stored on it, only on your own Wii. I think that's Nintendo's main concern with bringing out an external hd.. they don't want other people getting free games.

Thanks but no thanks, not able to demo = go to hell. WiiWare will be the new mecca for more shovelware on the Wii. Shameless

All Nintendo needs to do is allow game to run directly from an SD card... that would be a HUGE improvement... and JPThunder, if you copy a game to an SD card and try to copy it onto a 2nd Wii, it will not work... that game is register with the Wii number (or serial number whatever)... so HDD could do the same!

VivaLeResistance Posted at: 06/02/08 at 9:03 AM PST and how are wii owners supposed to save all those downloads? ...
You can either temporarily store the on SD cards and copy over to Wii when you wanna play, or you can delete the games and re-download for free if you wanna play it again. Those are your 2 options, which is BS.

Sad but true, I loved the Wii but sold mine and got most of my money back. i will use that money for new PS3 games or 360 because Wii is a bit of a disappointment ot me.
