New MGS4 trailer readies Snake's 'final mission'

A brand-new trailer, complete with English voice acting and new scenes, gives gamers a small peak into the next Metal Gear.

At the MGS4 wrap party in Japan today, a brimming crowd was given a sneak preview of Kojima Productions' now-finished Metal Gear Solid 4. The new theatrical trailer, complete with an ominous, Hollywood-style voice over, shows various snippets of the story that have not been seen before.

The trailer opens with various armies battling each other in organized warfare, all regulated by a dangerous, nanomachine-driven matrix that controls each soldier. In the future, war is a finely-tuned machine. But somehow, Liquid Ocelot holes up in the Middle East and gains control of this system, subsequently becoming a direct threat to the entire world -- as well as the mysterious Patriots.

New clips show Old Snake and his comrades, including Raiden, Meryl, and Eva, locked in explosive combat with everything from genetically enhanced super-soldiers to the Metal Gear "Gekko" clones. Along with Snake's mission to track down and eliminate Liquid, the issue of his advanced genetic aging is also revisited in the new trailer. Just how long does Snake have before his number's up?

Another new scene also shows Snake and Liquid face-to-face, engaged in hand-to-hand combat during a showdown in what looks like a Venice inter-city canal. Is this the location of their final battle?

Perhaps the most dramatic and telling moment of the trailer is Snake's weary statement before the trailer's climatic final minute: "This... is my final mission."

Metal Gear Solid 4 arrives exclusively on PlayStation 3 on June 12. It carries an MSRP of $59.99 and is rated Mature.

If this is supposed to be the best PS3 game, then I'm extremely glad I didnt waste my money on that system.
