id Software announces Doom 4

Nearly four years since the release of Doom 3, id Software on Wednesday confirmed development of the fourth game in the series.

The announcement was more of a hiring call for developers than a notice of game details, but it was confirmation nonetheless of the game's looming release.

It's unclear when the shooter will arrive and for which platforms, but being that Doom 3 released on Xbox in 2005, and given the waning sales of PC games, a simultaneous launch of Doom 4 on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 would not be unlikely.

In any case, "the ultimate battle against evil continues," said the pioneer of first-person shooters, id Software.

Oh snap.... that's all I gotta say. It's gonna be running on the Rage Engine, I assume. [p] This kind of blind sided me. I wasn't expecting another one. I'm delighted. =0)

Doom 3 on the original Xbox looked fantastic just as good as Quake 4 on the 360. The Xbox still had alot of untapped power, MS should have stood behind it until they got the 360 in acceptable working order.

LHO has an uncanny resemblence to the the serial killer , Richard Ramirez, The Night Stalker.

This is something I wouldn't of asked for but now that it is announced I look forward to it.
