Microsoft seeking developers for 'Peter Jackson Halo project'

Some interesting developments in the Halo universe were confirmed on Wednesday -- let us walk you through the fragmented happenings.

"A Peter Jackson-helmed Halo project was announced at X06 in Barcelona," a Microsoft spokesperson told MTV News on Wednesday. "Since then, Microsoft Game Studios has been hard at work collaborating with Peter Jackson and Bungie on the development of that project.

The rep added, "At this time, it's necessary to grow the internal team to keep pace with development. Bungie will continue to remain involved in multiple aspects of the Halo Universe with Microsoft Game Studios."

Whatever the "project" ends up being, it will be developed internally at Microsoft as opposed to Halo 1, 2, and 3 creators, Bungie Software, which is now an independent developer working on at least one new game property (presumably for Xbox 360).

In 2005, Microsoft announced Halo: Chronicles, a top-secret episodic game spearheaded by Peter Jackson, the famed director of Lord of the Rings. Since then, no further information has been announced, and a planned Peter Jackson Halo movie has been put on hold.

A different Halo spin-off game, called Halo Wars, is scheduled for release on Xbox 360 this fall and is being made by real-time strategy developer Ensemble Studios.

Wait so is Bungie making this or what. If they aren't then it will be bad. Bungie made Halo and they should be making this game too.

Sire

If it's even a tenth of the epic scale that LOTR is, this is gonna kick ass.
