Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe announced; less blood, no fatalities

It's true: Mortal Kombat 8 is in fact a mashup with DC Comic superheroes. If that weren't enough, there are sweeping gameplay changes as well.

The news began surfacing earlier today on several sites including GameSpot and Kotaku showing the above official image and confirming the series departure of no fatalities, presumably because DC doesn't want to see a decapitated Superman.

What's more, the game is reputed to have less blood. "It's not going to be M-rated," said GameSpot. "How's that for some curveballs?" Re-engineered fighting mechanics were also cited.

Four playable characters have been confirmed for now, including Sub Zero, Scorpion, Superman, and Batman. The game is scheduled for release this fall on Xbox 360 and PS3.

We'll have more information as soon as Midway's 4pm embargo is lifted.

Why no fatalities? That don't seem right for MK... or maybe batgirl can't handle it

Also I know marvel vs capcom2 was great but MK and DC just don't mix very well.
