Prediction: Grand Theft Auto IV tops Halo 3 with $400 million first week

Step aside, Halo 3. When Grand Theft Auto IV drops there's going to be a new week-one sales record in town.

Fact: Grand Theft Auto IV will have an impressive launch. However, will the hype train drive it past the current week-one sales winner Halo 3?

The survey says "yes" as sources close to GTA IV publisher Take-Two have reported it is expecting to sell six million units of Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV. In monetary terms, that translates into approximately $400 million in one week.

According to Variety, Take Two is able to predict its early sales figures based on how many units retailers have ordered so far.

Analysts have for the most part agreed with the prediction, and word on the financial street is the $400 million mark will be enough to knock Halo 3 from its multi-million dollar throne ($300 in the first week).

GTA, will be in PS3 & 360 That's the only way it will happen. I don't know why they continue to fight with halo and it's record setting 300 Million. It will be nearly impossible for any game in any single console to ever break that record setting 300 millions. If a game its going to doit it will have to be release in more than one console at the same time

I think the two games are incomparable because of GTA being a multi-system release, but I can definitely see this happening.

IM having trouble deciding what system to get this on, any suggestions. I like the PS3 controller for this trype of game but I like the LIVE experience better. Plus the extra DLC.

Why does everyone say halo is on ONE system. True it is but let me remind you, grand theft auto 3, grand theft auto vice city, and grand theft auto san andreas all sold more copies than halo 1,2,and 3. (san Andreas launched like a year later on xbox but the ps2 sales have already pased halo 2)

stop the crap, none of gta have sold more than halo3 and its a one system console only, but if u wanna compare, see how many gtaiv for 360 r goint to be sold, and then compare the numbers of halo 3, common guys at the date halo3 has sold more than 8million, and it was the most selling game in january so, step aside!
