The Sims sells 100 million copies worldwide

As the Sims series surpasses 100 million units sold worldwide, playing with yourself and others has never been so much fun.

Sims, Sims 2 sell 100 million

100 million Sims and counting...

The Sims, already the top-selling video game in the world of all time, has officially sold more than 100 million copies since its launch in 2000.

The brainchild of industry icon Will wright, The Sims has been translated into more than 20 languages and spawned dozens of expansion packs, and doesn't show any signs of stopping. The Sims 3 is already on the docket, with a release date set sometime in 2009.

Joystiq pinged The Sims brand studio head Rod Humble today to get more info on the milestone and the Sims' wild success over the years, including which expansion packs have really piqued players' interests.

"Right now our players are keen to playing an expansion pack that focuses on living in a big city...other ideas I've seen in the community include a rave/party pack and science fiction pack," Humble said, humbly.

Man, the last sims I played was the Sims 1 expansion pack where they added pets. I loved that game, now the game seems way too complicated.

I personally don't like the Sims, but girl loves it. I guess I'll never understand the concept of playing in a V-life.
