Metal Gear Online beta unlocks on April 17

Sony released a torrent of Metal Gear Online info today via the PlayStation.blog. If you have an MGO Beta UPVC, then Thursday, April 17th is the day to use it.

Here comes the beta...

If you have a Metal Gear Online Beta UPVC (obtained via pre-ordering Metal Gear Solid 4), then Thursday, April 17th, you will be able to download the MGO beta client at the PlayStation Store for your PS3.

After that, all you'll have to do is wait some more, until April 21st to be precise, and you can design a soldier to your heart's content. Then we suggest you start blasting away your beta-wielding buddies online.

The PlayStation Blog says it is important to note that your UPVC for the MGO Beta is good for only one PS3/PSN/PlayStation Store account, so players should not share it with anyone. If you do that means they get it and you're locked out!

But enough negatives, here's the MGO meat:

MGO features a character creation component that will be available in the beta. Each beta user will get one "character slot" to create a character with, which includes a variety of personalization options and upgradeable skills.

There will also be two multiplayer maps, Blood Bath and Groznyj Grad, as well as a host of weapons and items (which are listed on the page linked to above).

Oh, and there are Man Catapults too. Need we say more?

I guess we do: the MGO beta runs until May 5.

hahahah wooooooooooow i read this like an hour ago...went holy crap i gotta go pre order it so i can get this...so i do that...get home...start downloading it only to realize u wont b able to play it till the 21st! *($#&%($$ another 4 days?!?!?

can some1 help me... after u download it in the account manager or w/e u go to where ur demos are and u click on it and it goes to it like its gonna let u play but u have to download an update first or w/e...and i do that...but it never updates... wthhhhhhhhhh

ah ik i cant wait theres so much shit comin out for ps3 i cant wait till around june...thats when most of the good games r coming out

Ummm... So what's going to happen when GTAIV is released? They are going to lose a lot of their Beta audience. They should've released it much earlier.

screw that the beta is wut ima b playin...i mean GTA4 is gonna b mine forever...beta only till about the 5th haha im thinkin the beta has all my attention
