At its semiannual media summit in San Francisco today, Nintendo demoed the latest Mario extension game that shares similarities with other Wii sports games; namely Mario Strikers Charged, released last summer, and the forthcoming Mario Kart Wii.

"Mario Super Sluggers blends richly interactive baseball action with eccentric characters and elements from across the popular Mario universe," the company said in a press release.

Much like Wii Sports Baseball, players will use the Wiimote for batting and pitching. However, the game will further extend the controls by sensing wrist movements for pitches, as well as letting gamers control fielding, throwing, and diving catches.

Due to embargoes, screenshots and video have yet to surface.
