Gauntlet and its classic hack-and-slash four-player co-op action is coming to the DS. Oh, and it has voice chat too.
Gauntlet for DS will look much better than this
Gauntlet is coming to the Nintendo DS. And not some watered down port with gimped co-op functionality--this title has confirmed wireless co-op and, perhaps most important of all, voice chat via VoIP.
The game is simply titled Gauntlet, and will allow players take their pick from the four different classes of characters that saw their start with the original Gauntlet more than 20 years ago.
The 40 different maps and 32 different enemy types can be tackled solo or with 3 friends, either locally or over the Nintendo Wi-Fi service. IGN reports that players will be able to utilize special abilities, like Bait to attract enemies, or Glacier Freeze to halt them in their tracks. Action takes place on both screens using a 3D engine created by Backbone Entertainment.
Gauntlet will also feature additional multiplayer modes like Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Treasure Horde, which are all playable locally or over the internet.
Eidos will publish Gauntlet for the Nintendo DS this June for a retail price of $29.99.
