New wave of PSN announcements reveals Echochrome PSP version

If MTV Multiplayer's hands-on first impressions of the next wave of PSN titles are any indication, the future is bright for PS3 downloadable content.

Echochrome is falling onto PSP this May

From MTV Multiplayer comes word that the next wave of PlayStation Network titles, with release dates ranging from April to June, are "rich with originality and ambition" and could signal yet another reason why 2008 is shaping up to be a solid year for the PS3.

First, there's Echochrome, Sony's super hyped MC Escher-style puzzle game. The game will be out in early May, but the big surprise here is that Sony has also announced the title will be a download for the PSP too.

Second is Elefunk, which has little to do with elephants and everything to do with gravity. Players are asked to use a set number of struts, squares and other support types to build bridges for a traveling band of pachyderms. Due out in May.

PixelJunk Monsters: Encore is an expansion to the tower-defense game PixelJunk Monsters and adds the island of Toki to the original game's Tiki. This will be out in late April.

Finally, WipEout HD was described as "the slickest futuristic racer since F-Zero GX," and apparently it looks sharp even for people playing it on standard definition TVs. The game will be out in late May or early June.
