Ubisoft didn't buy Tom Clancy the man today, but it came pretty close.
Ubisoft pwns me now
Ubisoft announced today that they have acquired the intellectual property rights to the name Tom Clancy. The pick up includes just about everything you can imagine as it relates to Tom Clancy, except the physical man himself (we think).
The acquisition will include video games, related books and movies and merchandise, Ubisoft press reps said today.
"After ten years of a highly successful collaboration which has seen the creation of blockbusters that set standards in the videogame industry, such as Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, today, acquiring the perpetual property rights of the Tom Clancy name for video games and related projects is a major event," said Yves Guillemot, Chief Executive Officer at Ubisoft.
