Evidence mounts for Lost Planet: Colonies release

Is Lost Planet: Colonies finally confirmed? Photo evidence from a recent Capcom play test session present some of the most intriguing evidence yet that it is.

Xbox 360 Lost Planet

Are you in there, Lost Planet sequel?

A curious set of Flickr photos surfaced today containing evidence of a secret game play testing session at the Capcom offices in the Bay Area could very well be Lost Planet: Colonies, but so far the publisher isn't talking.

Turns out, they might not have to. At Kotaku, leaked magazine scans from Japan hint the game hits those shores in May, and closer to home Capcom's community blogs revealed an exclusive "super secret new game" play testing session at the US offices in California.

Siliconera speculates that the game could be the sequel to the Xbox 360 sci-fi shooter Lost Planet due to the numerous clues present in one of the heavily blacked out photos.

One of the obvious clues is the fact that Xbox 360 development units can be seen next to the flat screen TVs and a 360 controller is present in a playtester's lap. Therefore, it would go to reason that the secret game is an Xbox 360 title. Less obvious is the Lost Planet artwork plastered on the walls.

And while Capcom has not confirmed or denied a sequel, the writing is certainly on the wall elsewhere too. Many ratings boards have a "Lost Planet Colonies" listing in their databases.

Still, this is all speculation at this point, and with no official word from Capcom, this mystery game might as well be a sequel to Fighting Revolution. Ugh.
