Activision readies 'Tony Hawk Innovation Plan'

After losing the digital X Games to EA's Skate last fall, Activision and Tony Hawk are scheming to reinvent the skating series that started it all.

It's called the "Tony Hawk Innovation Plan," says Activision senior vice president Will Kassoy, when speaking of the impending sequel. What exactly can gamers expect in a post Skate world, then? Activision isn't talking specifics, but the Proving Ground follow-up will deliver "new thrills," reports USA Today.

While last year's game was far from being a playable failure, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground felt stale and antiquated when compared to EA's Skate with its inventive thumbstick controls. As a result, Skate outsold Tony Hawk 2 to 1 last year, despite launching on three fewer systems.
