Blu-ray is too small, says Metal Gear Solid creator

Konami's Hideo Kojima obviously struggles with the editing process, saying Blu-ray's hefty 50GB storage capacity is "not enough."

"We're still not satisfied with the quality we can do," said Kojima in a Japanese interview transcribed by Kotaku. "There's not enough space [on Blu-ray]."

Ironically, Blu-ray can hold twice the amount of data as the now defunct HD DVD, and more than five times the amount of a DVD.

In a 2007 GamePro interview, Kojima said he would need additional storage "right away" for Metal Gear Solid 4, which is out for PS3 on June 12.

"It's high-def, and just to make it high-def, the data requirements are huge," he said. As a result, MGS4 will ship with a single narrative track: either English or Japanese depending on the territory.

THE VERDICT by Blake Snow Blake Snow's Avatar Sounds like Kojima has a hard time trimming fat. There's no reason he shouldn't be able to deliver and awesome game with under 50GBs. Sheesh!
