I'm talking to you about Gears of War 2

When Gears of War 2 launches later this year it won't be just John DiMaggio, the voice of protagonist Marcus Fenix, who reprises his role. There'll be new head-to-head encounters with monstrous Brumaks to contend with as well.

Oh, and there won't be any running away this time around.

The news is bound to get any Gears fan excited about the upcoming sequel, but perhaps no one is excited as DiMaggio himself, who in a recent interview with IGN gushed openly about working on the project and what he's seen from Epic Games so far.

"[Gears 2 is] badass," he told IGN. "In fact, I saw some of the stuff yesterday! Which level was it? It was, well listen, there's bigger beasts in this game. Bigger beasts. Remember the scene with the Brumak, when the Brumak comes out and we're like 'Brumak! Roll! Get outta there!' and it's coming after them - and they don't have a fight with him? Well, they fight him now."

DiMaggio didn't stop there, however. He continued to effuse praise on the blockbuster sequel when he hinted that fans of the game will be using new weapons, fighting tougher enemies (like a Brumak) and meeting new characters throughout Gears 2.

At GDC 2008, Gears of War 2 was given an official release time frame of "November" by Microsoft VP John Schappert.

THE VERDICT by Jack Loftus Jack Loftus's Avatar To compete with a resurgent PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 will need bigger, badder games in 2008. Could Gears of War 2, with a confirmed Brumak fight and deeper storyline, be the game to deliver?
