It's official: Professor Layton and the Curious Village has a sequel -- and the first one just hit U.S. store shelves yesterday!
Watch out for the sequel, Professor Layton
Mere hours after the Professor Layton foam hat launch party wrapped up at the Nintendo World Store in New York City on Sunday, a sequel was confirmed by wording in the game's instruction manual and a secret in-game screen.
At Game|Life, Chris Kohler explained that in the Japanese version of Professor Layton and the Curious Village there's a secret password entry screen that can only be unlocked by playing the sequel. When the sequel is eventually launched at a date and time to be named later, it will be called Professor Layton And The Devil's Box and will theoretically allow you to access whatever puzzles or mysteries lay beyond.
"That same feature is in the U.S. game, and the instruction manual specifically says that the password 'will be revealed in the sequel,' so take that as your official confirmation," Kohler reports.
The buzz in the blogosphere surrounding this portable puzzle title is already pretty high, but Nintendo must have Ken Kuturagi-level confidence in it if they're confirming a sequel before the game is officially out.
