EA, Tecmo Bowl pick wrong; Giants win Super Bowl

Despite being picked to lose by Madden 08, Super Tecmo Bowl, and bookies alike, the New York Giants became NFL Champions on Sunday.

According to a simulated game sponsored by Electronic Arts, the Giants should have lost to the New England Patriots by a score of 38-30. A virtual match up using Super Tecmo Bowl also picked the Pats to win by a score of 24-21.

In actuality, the Giants won 17-14 thanks to a thrilling fourth quarter drive led by quarterback Eli Manning, with less than three minutes remaining in the game.

The news marks the first time in six years that a Madden simulated game placed the wrong bet, according to Electronic Arts. In fairness, the Patriots were the better team on paper, but the Giants were the better team on the field.
