Darth Vader, Yoda playable in Soul Calibur IV

Namco Bandai on Wednesday revealed Darth Vader and Yoda as playable characters in the upcoming Soul Calibur IV.

In a surprising announcement, 1UP broke the news saying that more Star Wars characters are likely on their way in addition to the already confirmed Vader and Yoda.

"It's unlikely that [Namco] would go through all these negotiations with LucasArts to obtain the rights to only two characters, so expect more announcements as we get closer to release," writes James Mielke, adding that new Star Wars characters may be made available as downloadable content.

Soul Calibur IV is currently scheduled for a "spring 2008" release on PS3 and Xbox 360.

THE VERDICT by Blake Snow Blake Snow's Avatar Wow! Where did that come from? Regardless, smart move on Namco's part. Bajillians of Star Wars nerds will now buy the game solely for the chance in recreating Yoda's ninja encounter from Episode II.
