Nintendo DS to be top-selling system of 2007

Forget the console wars, Nintendo says its assiduous handheld will be the best selling game console this year.

According to the Redmond-based game-maker, more than 6 million DS units will be sold by the end of the year in the U.S, the most ever by the portable. If accurate, the dual-screener will sell more than either the Wii, Xbox 360, or PS3.

"There's no letup in sight," says George Harrison, Nintendo's outgoing marketing chief. "Nintendo DS appeals strongly to both core and casual gamers, and its momentum is set to propel us into 2008."
