Study: Men like casual games, don't like to admit it

According to a new study by the Casual Games Association, women and men play an equal amount of "girly games" even though females buy said titles more often than males.

The year-long survey found that while women make up 75 percent of those who purchase casual games, those who play casual games are an even 50-50 split by gender.

"It was really shocking for everybody," said the association's Jessica Tams when commenting on the findings. "Everyone always thought that casual games were something that only appeal to women.

"We knew these guys were playing these games. But the hardcore gamer who is playing Halo with his buddies isn't going to brag that he just beat the next level of Zuma."

The report comes at a time when casual games, readily found on Nintendo's Wii and DS, rise in popularity. As a result many long-time gamers fear that conventional games may decrease over time.
