Nintendo: $75 Wii Fit arrives in Japan on Dec. 1

Japanese fitness freaks willing to shell out hard earned cash for Nintendo's Wii Fit Balance board bundle can do so on December 1 for about $75 (8,800 Yen).

The price and release date for Wii Fit were announced by Nintendo President Satoru Iwata at the Nintendo Fall Conference on Wednesday in Japan, but no U.S. or European price or release date was given. A placeholder video game retail chain GameStop listed the Wii Fit bundle for $99 with a release date of Jan 1, 2008, as recently as September 15, but that listing has since been removed.

If Nintendo's usual exchange rates and pricing practices are taken into consideration, however, the Yanks and their brothers and sisters across the Atlantic can expect to pay slightly more than $75. For example, the Wii is 25,000 Yen in Japan ($213) as opposed to the $249 paid by U.S. consumers.
