Nintendo pledges 'unprecedented' Wii levels this holiday

Nintendo president Reggie Fils-Aime promised additional Wii supply this holiday in an interview with the Mercury News. The executive also dished on the current games he likes, namely Brain Age 2, Metroid Prime 3, even Bioshock for Xbox 360.

"The amount of Wii hardware that will be in North American stores [this holiday] will be unprecedented - substantially more than the launch, substantially more than has been seen to date," Fils-Aime said in an interview with the Mercury News.

He added, "The bad news is that given the level of demand, and given the fact that the more we put in the more we sell, it is still going to be difficult to get [your] hands on the Wii."

The Nintendo of America president assured gamers, however, that all major retailers will be getting regular, weekly supply.

Additionally, Fils-Aime said that the Xbox 360 and PS3 are doing little to affect Wii sales. Regarding recent games he has played, Brain Age 2 for DS and Metroid Prime 3 for Wii top his list, though he has tried and liked Bioshock for Xbox 360.

In related news, Nintendo's U.S. marketing chief, Phil Harrison, announced his resignation after 15 years with the company. In June Nintendo announced that it would be relocating its sales and marketing offices from Redmond Washington to San Francisco in an effort to bolster additional partnerships, something many feel spurred Harrison's decision.
