Prologue marks the first time Gran Turismo will be playable online and includes coveted vehicles made by Lotus, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Ferrari to name a few. Also coming are a series of real-life tracks all streamed in fluid 1080p at 60 frames per second.

The game will be available on both Blu-ray disc and as a download from PlayStation Store at the end of this year. On Tuesday it was reported that series creator Kazunori Yamauchi said in an interview last week that Prologue would be released as a free download this October. That will likely not be the case, however, given that the game will also be released on Blu-ray. Sony's Warhawk, released this week, sells for $59 as a disc and $39 as a download.

Prologue will also come bundled with a special PSN channel called Gran Turismo TV which features exclusive motosport programming.

Gran Turismo 5 - the complete game - launches in 2008.

THE VERDICT by Blake Snow Blake Snow's Avatar Yurp just imploded upon hearing these Gran Turismo newsbits. OK, maybe not, but you gotta believe they're at least doing cartwheels.
