Nintendo hints at additional Wii preview channels

Nintendo publicist Perrin Kaplan said on Tuesday that additional game promotions like the recently added Metroid Prime 3 Preview channel are soon coming to the Wii giving rise to speculation that Nintendo will offer additional downloadable Wii demos.

Just what does Ninty have in store...?

"We still have a lot of our more traditional marketing efforts planned. People will see it all shortly, from ads to many of the usual tactics we use to support our key products," Kaplan told IGN when asked about the perceived lack of advertising backing Metroid Prime 3.

She went on to say, "Plus: a few more surprises like the Metroid Prime 3 Preview [are forthcoming]," before adding that she wouldn't spoil the suprise by revealing what's in store.

The Metroid Prime 3 Preview channel was a first for Wii, though the videos were merely streamed in low-resolution as opposed to the much higher resolution downloads available on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Playable demos on Wii, assuming Nintendo doesn't add external storage, also seem unlikely given the system's limiting 512mb of disc space.

THE VERDICT by Blake Snow Blake Snow's Avatar Oh everybody loves surprise advertising... er I mean game trailers! Now if we can only find a way to get playable demos on Wii, and, well, we'd be all set.
