Best Buy accused of Xbox 360 price gouging

Best Buy increased the price of several Xbox 360 accessories at $3 above the manufacturer suggested retail price raising suspicions that the retailer is hoping to make some extra money on increased sales expected from Halo 3.

While technically legal in a free market society, retailers typically sell goods at or below the manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP). Given the timing of the minor price hike, however, some feel that Best Buy is hoping to exploit unsuspecting gamers with a "Halo 3 tax" as many individuals will likely buy additional accessories upon the game's release with little or no price comparison.
Regardless, Best Buy can charge whatever they like for Xbox 360 accessories. And of course, consumers can shop wherever they like (hopefully not at Best Buy in this case) for their Xbox 360 accessories.
