Sony unveiled a slightly redesigned PSP on Wednesday during the company's E3 press briefing due this September for $170.
New PSPs: Piano Black, Ice Silver, and Star Wars White
The new system is 33% lighter and 19% thinner than its predecessor. Piano Black, Ice Silver, and a Special Edition white Star Wars model will all be available this fall. A spokeswoman for Sony confirmed to Reuters that the slimmer PSP would retail for $170, the same as the current PSP. $200 bundle packages will also be released that include a 1GB memory stick and game.
We made our way over to Sony's E3 "arcade" where they had the new PSP on display. At first, we were expecting a bigger change, such as an inclusion of an internal hard or flash drive and a right-analog stick nub. On paper, the redesign sounds a little underwhelming.
But in person, it's a different story. We got our hands on the new PSP, and it's very sleek. It's extremely light and thin, and the new colors are nice, too, especially white. The video out capability is by far the feature we're most excited about, and it's been a long time coming.
