A Nintendo representative confirmed on Monday that Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii will not be playable at E3 this month.

The company confirmed the news to Game|Life but stressed that the title was still on track for its 2007 release despite its lacking a formal date.

Officials said Nintendo would only show a very narrow focus of games in addition to announcing several never-before-seen Wii titles as expected. Playable demos of the unannounced games will also be available.

Publishers will be limited to the number of games shown this year due to the much smaller nature of E3. Still, with Smash Bros. Brawl being one of the most anticipated titles for core gamers, the choice not show the game is a bit perplexing.

THE VERDICT by Blake Snow Blake Snow's Avatar Nintendo is notorious for delaying games, perhaps more than most. But if the game is still on schedule for a 2007 release, why wouldn't the company show the playable game? Something smells fishy...
