Warhawk To Get Its Wings Patched

After receiving complaints regarding all sorts of problems with random crashes and general bugginess, Sony is all set to release a patch for the beta version of its awaited multiplayer-only title, Warhawk.

Word out on the information superhighway is that the beta version of Warhawk, which is currently undergoing its temporary testing phase on certain specially-selected PS3s, may be receiving a patch sometime soon to fix its reported problems with stability and wanton crashes.

According to a recent report by Kotaku, this new version will focus primarily on stabilizing the game experience, but will also feature a few other fixes. Foremost among these will be improving client release protocols, which should make for a smoother departure should a player leave, disconnect, or unexpectedly see his/her system crash. The patch also changes the way players use voice communication -- after the aforementioned patch is implemented, players will have to click the left thumbstick to open a chat channel and release it in order to close the channel.

Warhawk is a multiplayer-only flight/action/shooter game, and is the sequel/remake of one of the PSOne's early favorites. Originally thought to be a PS3 launch title, the game was delayed to focus on quality assurance issues, which eventually left the single-player, offline portion of the project being scrapped entirely. The beta patch is reported to be hitting the network today, June 8th, either in the afternoon or late evening.
