Those of you that recall the Island of Rhodes hooplah that lasted throughout the month of April are most likely also aware of Sony's roundabout announcement of God of War: Chains of Olympus, the PSP title that will act as a prequel to the original God of War. As the viral marketing smoke surrounding the announcement cleared, it was also revealed that Sony would be releasing a free UMD demo of the game, but only in limited quantities.

Fans that were lucky enough to sign up in time were treated to a surprise today, as Sony's PlayStation Underground service sent them a quick e-mail stating that the UMD demos would be sent out this September. Furthermore, the e-mail also contained a message from Chains of Olympus director Ru Weerasuriya:

"Hi I'm Ru Weerasuriya, the Game Director for God of War: Chains of Olympus. Thanks for signing up for the demo: Stay tuned to hear more from me and from the rest of the team over the next few months on the development of the game."

Although the e-mail contained no specific release date for the final version of the game, it did reveal that Ready at Dawn studios, the creators of Daxter, would be behind the development of the game. GamePro will keep you posted on more information about the game as it becomes available.
