Nintendo has released an announcement today in regards to their Virtual Console lineup, stating that the next update on Monday, June 4th will include the 100th game to be released for the Wii's retro game distribution system. The honor of the 100th game distinction goes to none other than the original NES title Zelda II - The Adventure of Link, the fourth Zelda title to be released on the Virtual Console so far.

According to Nintendo's statistics, more than 4.7 million VC games have so far been downloaded on the Wii since the service opened for business on November 19th, 2006. The vast number represents a rate of more than 1000 games per hour since the console's launch last year.

The company also has a list of the five most popular VC titles, which are, in order:

1) Super Mario Bros. (NES)

2) Super Mario 64 (N64)

3) Mario Kart 64 (N64)

4) Super Mario World (SNES)

5) The Legend of Zelda (NES)

Nintendo has not yet announced the other titles that will accompany the release of Zelda II, but will make an official announcement prior to the Virtual Console update, which is scheduled to go up on 9 AM PST next Monday.
