It appears that Kuju Entertainment, the development team behind Battalion Wars, has recently started taking on a franchise that has previously been synonymous with the Xbox 360. According a tiny article nestled somewhere within the latest issue of Nintendo Power (care of Buttonbasher), Geometry Wars will soon be appearing on the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS in the form of Geometry Wars: Galaxies.

Not much is known about the game so far, but it has been revealed that the Wii version will include motion control optimized for the Wii Remote while the DS version will feature unique touchscreen control. While these new ports will contain the original gameplay made popular by Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved, they will also be expanded to include a new single-player campaign not found on the original Xbox Live Arcade version, as well as a multiplayer mode.

Since the XBLA game was originally released strictly on a download-only basis, a similar distribution method could be possible for the Wii version. However, the developers have not yet made any comments regarding how the game will ultimately be distributed. Both versions are expected to be released sometime this fall.
