Development team Crytek puts both its new Kiev-based studios and its new CryEngine 2 middleware to work on a brand new title, but has been completely hush-hush about nearly everything else surrounding the game.

Today, Crytek revealed that its recently established development studio based in the city of Kiev has begun production on a completely new game based on an original, as-yet unnamed IP. The development company, also currently hard at work on their ambitious first-person shooter Crysis, will be working on both games through the aid of their new CryEngine 2 middleware, which the company believes has matured enough to be put to use in creating new games based around different genres on multiple formats.
"Now that our CryEngine 2 middleware has reached the point of maturity where it can be used to support both different types and styles of games, and run on multiple platforms, we thought it was the optimum time to begin work on a new project based on our own new and original intellectual property, and elevate the Kiev operation to full studio status," explained Cyrtek managing director Faruk Yerli.
"Our Kiev studio has been recruiting and growing for the past year and a half," he continued. "The highly talented team that has undergone an intensive training period, and in that time they have made an invaluable contribution to our production in Frankfurt."
No mention of the game's title, format, genre or even a release date have been revealed, but given their discussion of "multiple genres", it can be safely assumed that it won't be another FPS. GamePro will keep you updated on the latest info surrounding this new title as soon as we can find out more.
