In a press release dated today, Electronic Arts has announced the first Burnout game of the next-generation. Titled Burnout Paradise, it will be the first completely new Burnout title to see release on next-gen consoles, and developer Criterion promises a complete free-roaming experience, built from the ground up. The graphics are also set to be vastly expanded upon, which should satisfy all those hoping for the same dramatic crashes the series is famous for.

"We have been working towards Burnout Paradise for quite some time," said executive producer Pete Hawley in a statement earlier today. "Next generation consoles have opened up a raft of new gameplay opportunities, and the Criterion team has leapt at the chance to innovate and raise the bar to an all-new high."

"There are going to be some big surprises and a lot of new features but the core of the game is still pure Burnout, Hawley later added. "Instant accessibility will be reinforced by innovative online capabilities, which will see Burnout Paradise smash racing conventions."

Although information is still limited at this stage of development, EA confirmed that the title will be available this coming winter for PS3 and Xbox 360.
