New Ninja Gaiden Sigma screens taking no prisoners

Tecmo has released some brand new screens of their upcoming PS3 title Ninja Gaiden Sigma, which feature not only a handful of new enemies, but also the reappearance of a few familiar faces.

The last time we saw Ryu Hayabusa don his all-black gear and katana was for the 2005 Xbox title Ninja Gaiden Black. Although his next-gen debut on the PlayStation 3 will essentially be a remake of the game, the new Ninja Gaiden Sigma will feature some other interesting additions, including revamped graphics (which goes without saying), all-new enemies, a set of levels where you can play as Rachel, and, of course, the reappearance of Dead or Alive's Ayane. Luckily for us, Famitsu.com has just released new screenshots featuring most, but not all of the above, and GamePro has released the translations for all of the site's image captions. Enjoy:

Dead or Alive's Ayane

For those not in the know, Ayane practices the Hajin Mon style of Mugen Tenshin ninjutsu. Although still only the tender 14 (WHA...?!?), she is skilled enough to be reckoned a martial arts genius. When the Hayabusa village is attacked, Ryu rushes in just in time to find Ayane collapsed in defeat. Someone was strong enough to defeat Ayane, but who attacked the village?

"Giltable"

A giltable is an evil water spirit living in a moat in the Vigoor Empire. They are a near-unstoppable force underwater when stalking their prey. Having mastered the powerful tactic of being able to run on water, can Ryu escape the danger?

Biker MSATs

Riding motorcycles like extensions of their own bodies, the special ops force MSAT can attack with incredible quickness. In addition to their tremendous speed, MSATs also wield guns, making them a formidable opponent. Ryu will have to dodge their bullets as he thrusts forward with a counterattack.

General Dynamo?

When Ryu infiltrates the Vigoor Empire, he will have to face the boss of MSAT, Dynamo. Ryu defeats him, but who is this similar-looking enemy that appears later in the game? Like Dynamo, this mysterious figure uses an electrical attack, but... just who is he?

Ghosts of Sleeping Soldiers

In the underground ruins beneath the Vigoor Empire, there lies a place said to be the source of all demons. The ruins have been sealed for a long time, and are supposedly filled with the ghosts of soldiers killed by these demons. Ryu, unfortunately, has the unenviable job of having to fight all those ghosts.

Gamov

Gamov is a special investigator tracking Ryu after he infiltrates the Vigoor Empire. But instead of just keeping him under surveillance, Gamov appears to attack Ryu with his twin pistols. Does Gamov harbor a secret objective beyond just espionage?
