Europe has just recently announced that it will follow in SCEA's footsteps, issuing a price reduction for the PSP equivalent to approximately US $40.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has revealed today that a price cut is in store for their localized versions of the PlayStation Portable handheld system. Starting on May 4th, the price of the PSP in the UK will drop from its original price of GBP 149.99 (US $300) to 129.99 (US $260). Likewise, the rest of Europe will experience a similar drop, with the price in Euros dipping from EUR 199.99 (US $271) to EUR 169.99 ($231).

This echoes SCE America's recent price drop for the U.S. PSP, which was reported by GamePro earlier this month. Currently, Japan remains the only region out of the three major video game markets to not announce a reduction in price for the PSP.

In tandem with this news, SCEE has also announced that five popular PSP games will be added to the Platinum series, and will thus be made available for GBP 14.99 (US $30). The titles are Ridge Racer 2, Tekken: Dark Resurrection, Killzone, LocoRoco, and Moto GP.
