After a brief half-month delay, Nintendo has finally announced that the full version of the Internet Channel has been released for the Wii, starting today. Now, users can browse the internet through a web browser developed by Opera Software with significant upgrades from the original beta version.

After taking the results of the beta trial into consideration, Opera has implemented a set of new features. One such feature is the inclusion of a manual zoom, which now supplements the automatic zoom found in the previous version. Other new features include improved scrolling functionality, collapsible toolbars, and multiple on-screen cursors.

Lastly, to accommodate the millions of surfers who use search engines as a primary means of getting in and around the internet, the Wii browser now includes a function that automatically enters your search terms into a pre-selected search engine, such as their default choices of Google or Yahoo! Search. Users have the option of changing the search engine at any time by selecting from a list, or by manually inputting the address of their preferred engine.

Although previous reports indicated that the Internet Channel would be available for a fee, Nintendo has since clarified the pricing of the browser, stating that it can downloaded free of charge through June 30th. After that date, downloading the browser will cost users 500 Wii Points.
