"Golly gee, I love me some Halo 2", you might have said to yourself, "but I sure wish Bungie would bring back some of the old Halo maps 'cause they sure were peachy-keen." Well, first, try to update your slang with words used sometime within the last decade, and then, check out the new downloadable content coming to Halo 2 on April 17th. On that day, Halo 2 gamers will be allowed to download two of the most popular multiplayer maps ever featured on the original Halo: Combat Evolved.
According to an announcement from Microsoft Game Studios and Bungie Studios, the first returning map is "Hang 'Em High", which they describe as "arguably the most popular multiplayer map for the original title". The original map will be reintroduced to Halo 2 as "Tombstone", with revamped graphics, new features, and a few "hidden surprises".
The second is a remake of the original map "Derelict", and has been renamed "Desolation". Like "Tombstone", its graphics and effects have been retouched, but the gameplay has also been overhauled, making it "faster-paced and more balanced than ever".
The maps will be available for download on Halo 2's in-game download service, and will be offered as premium content, meaning that a fee will be attached. Microsoft has announced that both maps will be sold as a set that can be purchased for $4 (US).
